About Mental Health America of Franklin County

Our Organization and Mission

Mental Health America of Franklin County (MHAFC) is here to help guide you on your road to better mental health. Finding your way through the mental health system can be difficult. We provide a personal, knowledgeable approach to referring those in need to the appropriate services. Mental health issues affect 1 in 4 individuals each year. Unfortunately, only a mere 16% of those individuals will seek treatment. We are here to help you!

MHAFC is dedicated to promoting mental health, preventing mental disorders and raising awareness and understanding of mental health issues through advocacy, education and support services in our community. We are a private, not-for-profit organization established in 1956.

MHAFC envisions a just, humane and healthy society in which all adults and children receive the help they need, are well informed and are accorded respect, dignity and the opportunity to achieve their full potential, free from stigma and prejudice.

We are:

  • the organization in Franklin County whose mission is to educate the public about mental health and mental illness;
  • an affiliate of Mental Health America (MHA);
  • a member agency of United Way of Central Ohio;
  • a contract agency of the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board (ADAMH) of Franklin County.

We provide a wide variety of services to the Franklin County community including:

For a glimpse of services we provided in the past year, view our Annual Report. Our IRS Form 990 is available at GuideStar, the national database of U.S. charitable organizations.
