Columbus Mentoring Initiative

Mentoring program for youth between grades 4-8. Goal is to provide youth with positive role models who will encourage and support the youth, thereby reducing the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Both school-based and community-based programs are available.

The Resource Library provides resources to professionals and the public on alcohol and drugs, prevention, treatment, mental health and social issue topics. Materials for specific ages, cultural backgrounds and special populations are available. Information-on-demand information services, adult presentations, trainings, brochures and handouts and other print media are also available. Collection of over 1200 volumes and 600 videos is available for free loan. Partnership with Columbus Public Health and Mental Health America of Franklin County.

This west-side based program provides education, support groups and family strengthening prevention activities for Latino families in the Hilltop region of Columbus. Summer day camps, after-school programming and school-based programs for elementary and middle school youth are also available.

Year-round weekly programs for children Grades K-4; teaches healthy life choices and promotes youth development to prevent alcohol, tobacco and drug use. Students Assisting in Learning (SAIL) is an advanced program for grades 5-8 covering alcohol, tobacco and drug use prevention. Encourages parent involvement through quarterly parent dinners and volunteer opportunities. Summer day camp program, after-school programming and mentoring services also available.
