Presentations
We would be glad to speak to your group. The following are some of the programs and presentations available through the MHAFC. If you are interested in arranging a speaker on any of the topics listed below, please call us at (614) 221-1441. We would appreciate at least three to four weeks notice to schedule a speaker. However, exceptions can be made in emergencies. Following are topics available.

Anxiety Education and Screenings: Each program is 45 minutes to one-hour in length using a video, handouts and opportunity for anxiety screening if time permits. Screenings are also available as part of a health fair exhibit.

Understanding Anxiety Disorders: We provide a general presentation or this program can be customized to emphasize one of the five anxiety disorders: general anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder or social phobia.

Depression Education and Screenings: Each program is 45 minutes to one-hour in length using a video, handouts and opportunity for screening for depression if time permits. Screenings are also available as part of a health fair exhibit. Following are depression topics we offer.

  • Depression and Co-occurring Medical Conditions

The Mental Health Association of Franklin County: Who We Are and What We Do: General agency presentation, 15-30 minutes in length.

The Myths of Mental Illness: A 30-45 minute presentation on major mental illnesses: schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression. Common misconceptions and facts about mental illness are discussed.

De-Stress Your Life: Work/Life Balance in Uncertain Times: 45 minute to one-hour presentation on general stress management. Includes personal stress management plan and relaxation exercise.

$100 for for-profit businesses

Health Fairs and Exhibits
You will find our agency exhibit at community events and health fairs all across Franklin County. We often provide depression and anxiety screenings as part of our exhibit.

Franklin County ADAMH Scholarships for Consumers and Family Members
If you live in Franklin County, scholarships may be available for consumers with a mental illness or drug/alcohol addiction, or for an immediate family member of a consumer. These scholarships are used to attend an event related to mental health, alcohol and drug, cultural awareness, or health/wellness concerns.

State of Ohio Scholarships for Mental Health Consumers and Family Members

If you live in Ohio and are a mental health consumer or family member, you may be eligible for a scholarship.

The Mental Health Association of Franklin County administers the scholarship funds allocated by the Ohio Department of Mental Health, effective July 1, 2005. The goal of these funds is to assist individuals and groups to develop the leadership and advocacy skills needed to effectively participate in the planning and development of mental health policies and services. We provide Scholarships to consumers and family members, both individuals and groups/organizations. Scholarship funds are awarded to individuals to attend workshops and conferences to enhance their leadership skills and knowledge of mental health issues. To access these funds, potential recipients must complete an application process and meet the criteria.

State of Ohio Grants for Technical Assistance for Mental Health Consumers and Family Members

If you live in Ohio and are a mental health consumer or family member, you may be eligible for a technical assistance grant.

The Mental Health Association of Franklin County administers the technical assistance funds allocated by the Ohio Department of Mental Health, effective July 1, 2005. The goal of these funds is to assist individuals and groups to develop the leadership and advocacy skills needed to effectively participate in the planning and development of mental health policies and services. We provide Technical Assistance (TA) grants to consumers and family members, both individuals and groups/organizations. Technical Assistance funds are awarded to mental health consumer and family groups for the purpose of group development, education and skill building. To access these funds, potential recipients must complete an application process and meet the enclosed criteria.
